Software ate the office.
This is what comes next.

“Software is eating the world.”
— Marc Andreessen, 2011

Fifteen years ago, software began eating the world.¹ Then it came for the office — in three waves, each one bolted onto the last.² We wrote this down because the third wave needs a different answer.

First, how we work changed.

Work went digital — but where we worked didn't. Knowledge workers were still managed like an assembly line: same place, same hours, inputs tracked instead of outcomes. Nobody loved it. It was already breaking when the next wave hit.

Then, where we work changed.

We went remote — but how we worked didn't. We ran old tools in new ways: presence became a grid of meetings, collaboration became transactional, and a dozen apps stood between you and the actual work.

Now, what work is changing.

AI arrived — and we're making the same mistake a third time. Every company bought a chatbox: one person, one tab, output invisible to the team and impossible to build on. The most multiplayer technology ever created, shipped as a single-player feature.

// what we believe

The next era of work isn't a better chatbot. It's a better place.

A place where people appear — not as dots on a contact list, but across a floor you can walk. Where a hallway question still beats a forty-message thread. Where knowledge doesn't die in someone's inbox.

A place where AI agents sit in the room — they see the meeting, share the memory, hand work back where everyone can use it, and keep going after you log off. Not another app in the stack. Coworkers in the office.

We built that place. deskmy is one office where people and AI agents work side by side — conversations become work, work becomes knowledge, and knowledge compounds in the Vault instead of scattering across a dozen tools no one will ever find again.

Work is multiplayer.

A team, a place, a shared memory. Not one person alone with a prompt.

Agents are teammates, not tools.

They sit in the office, join the conversation, and own outcomes — under your rules.

Memory compounds; chatboxes scatter.

Every meeting, decision, and deliverable files into the Vault. The longer a team runs here, the sharper everyone gets — human and agent.

There's no going back.

And finally — no reason to want it.
